In this video, I'm comparing Asana and Monday.com. If you're a small business owner, and you're interested to know which may be better suited to your business, well listen in, we've got a great video planned. My name is Pete Moriarty and if you're new to this channel where we help small and medium-sized business owners get their tech right so you can grow a more successful small business. Now, we want to thank our friends at Zapier for this. We have used content from your blog for this channel. Thank you so much to our partners there. If you're a small business owner and you're interested in learning more about Google workspace and other cloud applications that are going to help you and your business to be more successful and your team to be more productive, well check out our channel. We've got videos on our growth roadmap no matter what stage of business you're at covering different stages of technology adoption that makes sense to businesses, no matter where you are in business right now. But let's jump in the video. Let's talk about Monday and Asana. I'm going to take some notes on how you can compare the different areas of these two apps, which to be honest, a pretty neck and neck that have some unique features about each one individually. Now we'll start with user interface. Both apps make it easy to add new tasks to projects. But I started off as a, let's say, more intuitive interface. I personally prefer the keyboard shortcuts of Asana, there's a few less button clicks to get around. And I like how Asana can expertly link between different tasks and between different projects. It makes it really easy to find things. And I also like that you can go lots of layers deep with the subtasks with Asana. It makes it really simple. Next up is to move on to templates. Both apps include templates, but Monday's templates are a little bit more robust. And there's a lot more kind of like real-life content Examples of different templates that are available there. I do like the templates that are in Asana, but as a company that don't seem to be focused on templated tasks, it's really more about the actual task functionality as projects are built out. Let's move on to that. Task management is the next one. And Asana you know, really, they give you the fastest and most streamlined task creation. Monday can be a little bit clunkier. But Monday really does give you more details, Monday has got some great grid views, which allow you to have extra pieces of data in there like date fields and styles and colors and other things that Asana just doesn't quite happen the same way. If you do pay for Asana premium, then you get the option to do custom fields. And you can kind of create a similar kind of setup that you would have inside of Monday. But I think Monday is more visually appealing, particularly seeing things like progress bars in Monday, whereas in Asana, you'd have to do that using the portfolio view. I think Monday is a winner here overall with task management. But what I do like about Asana is the conversation flow and communication. And we're going to come back to communication in a few moments. Now with team management, Asana has some more advanced team management features. Really, Asana is designed not just for small teams, but also for growing businesses and large enterprises as well. And we've had Asana implemented into literally hundreds and hundreds of businesses, if not 1000s of companies that we've worked with over many years. One of the things I love about Asana is the amazing communication. In the actual thread of an individual task. You can mention a project, you can mention other tasks, you can mention other commenters, and kind of all brings it into one place that works nicely with the mobile app and even with email as well, if you want to use tasks in email, even though I don't recommend it. Whereas, you know, Monday will let you comment on tasks, but it doesn't quite have all of the same features. The thing I love about Asana, and you know, here's where some of my bias starts to come in here is that we have completely removed any need for internal email or internal chat inside our business while we're using Asana for tasks. It makes it nice and easy. Next, moving on to the visualization of your work. You know Asana gives you more kind of advanced visualization features. It's got amazing things like Gantt charts and calendars or other bits and pieces, but for visualizing on an individual task level or individual project level. As I mentioned earlier, things like the progress bars, Monday really takes the cake there. I do like Asana and the ability to you know, create custom fields and have different colors for those. Asana really feels to me more like a souped up spreadsheet when I'm in those views. Whereas Monday actually feels like an app that I've created and is fun to use. How do you make a choice between the two? Well, if you are working with any technology implementation, I recommend you watch our video on how to choose the perfect technology tool for your business. There's lots of different criteria for you to think about when you're choosing a tech tool to make sure that you're making a great, you know, great choice for your business. Both of these apps though, both asana and Monday, are very strong project management apps. They're going to help you organize your work and communicate with your team. Now if you have a complex project and you have multiple internal external collaborators, Asana is basically the clear winner. It centralizes everything in one place. And there's advanced features portfolios, you know, workflow that allow you to do resource allocation. I really like Asana for its integrations as well as third-party integrations with Asana, you know, effectively allow you to enhance the functionality we use a lot of Zapier zaps, to go back and forth with creating tools and creating tasks inside of Asana. So that's really useful. And there's a thriving add-on marketplace for Asana, which basically gives you an open door to lots of different tools and resources there. Now Monday is really great for smaller projects, to-do lists, you know, working with smaller teams, maybe less external contractors. I found using Monday, every time we added a person, we had to have them licensed. Whereas Asana is a little bit more flexible with that using the team's feature will get you access to kind of more people if you're still using the free plan. But Monday really wins when it comes to, you know, being able to have your projects and tasks look prettier, and have more, you know, let's say visual elements to the way that you're working. So if you're more of a visual worker, you may choose to work with Monday. If you're looking for something with a bit more power, I'd say go for Asana. Asana is certainly a more established product, more users more growth, I assume more revenue in the business as well. It was literally founded by ex-Facebook and ex-Google employees. So it's got a really amazing team there. But Monday had been making massive strides in the industry to really, you know, chase down those coattails of Asana and Monday have built a really solid product as well.
