If you're an entrepreneur promoting yourself on Facebook as a social media platform, then you might be interested in the new Facebook pages experience that is being rolled out to business owners and influencers using the Facebook platform. In this video, I'm going to cover some of the new features that I've discovered in my first few weeks of trialing the new experience and some of the tips for new players, and why you might want to switch to the experience early or just get used to what's coming in the future. If you're new to this channel, my name is Pete Moriarty, and I'm the founder of it genius. We help business owners and entrepreneurs get their tech systems, right, so they can grow and scale a successful business. Now, we've worked with 1000s of business owners all over the world over many years, helping businesses get the most out of the Google workplace ecosystem, and other technology tools to help you and your business.

Now, we don't often Cover FaceBook, but I had such a great experience using this platform. Now I wanted to make a video and share some of the things that I found, which are very useful about the new profile experience. And I would say this is most useful for someone who would consider themselves a person of influence. And even if you're a micro influencer, and you've only got 1000, or a couple 1000 followers, being able to use Facebook business pages in a new way, can really open up new ways of you connecting with potential customers with leads or with your community using the Facebook platform. Now to access to the Facebook experience, go to the settings for your page, it may or may not be switched on just yet. But I'll link to help guide below. So you can switch it on if you do have access. So once you've switched to the new profile experience, the most important thing for you to kind of get your head around is that it acts a little bit more like a personal Facebook profile, you have an option to follow pages. And what that means is that you can actually follow others, you can also participate in groups like you would a normal profile, and you actually get access to your own personalized news feed of the different pages or public profiles that you are following. What that means is it acts a little bit more like a personal version of Facebook, but you're actually acting as your business page. And what I really enjoyed about this experience is as I was using my business page, it's still called Peter Moriarty. But as I was using my business page, it felt much more like I had my business hat on interacting with the Facebook world from my public page. And so with that feed, I was able to subscribe to not only the profiles of media outlets and organizations and businesses and pages that I wanted to follow, and the personal feeds and profiles that are public that I wanted to follow as well. But I had the opportunity to focus on publications or focus on profiles, that would look good for me to be commenting on or sharing my thoughts or opinions on under my profile, because that's going to more likely find other followers who are in the realm and sphere of influence that I'm interested in, who may want to follow up to my page. And so for me that looked like tech blogs and articles and business blogs, and areas of business that are related to the businesses that I own. So once I started following pages, and you know, engaging in the dialog there, I also did the same thing in groups. And one of the great things about my page, because it's verified, it's got the little blue tick there, which brings a little bit of intrigue for anyone that I'm actually responding to, in any of the comment threads. And what that's going to result in is more people who are more likely to make their way across over to my page. And probably the biggest thing that made this really useful was once I was able to really dive into Pete in business mode, wearing my business hat working on Facebook, I also had a lot of space created for my personal Facebook use. And what that means is it allowed me to kind of free up my personal space on Facebook, for more of my family photos, more fun things that I'm up to and more things that I want to share with those in my kind of outer friend circle on Facebook. And I don't have to use my personal profile to flog business things to my business contacts. And I'm really personally interested in making sure that my business world is not completely separate to my personal world. But I guess that there's a little bit of delineation there. I don't think my mom is interested in me telling her how to be more productive in Google Docs. On my personal profile, she's probably more interested in following my YouTube or my instagram or somewhere else if she really wants to get that help from me. And so what this meant was, it kind of gave me my personal Facebook back when I was able to lean into sharing on my business page and have my personal page completely separate. One of the new updates to Facebook Messenger on my mobile phone is I now have the option to switch between my personal profile and my business profile right within the messages inbox. And what that means is I can use my business page to handle all of my business followers and all of my business conversations right inside that one switch button inside of messenger. I can easily switch between personal profile and business profile and access all of my messages. I can even use things like voice notes back and forth with someone that I'm connected with snap photos and use pretty much all of the features available to me in Messenger. Now anytime we're publishing on a business page rather than a personal page, it's important to be mindful that you're not gonna Get the same reach on your business page, then you are on your personal page. And for some people, they might be thinking, no, no, no, no, I don't want to use this, I want to keep using my personal page, and particularly who I would call micro influencers, or those who use personal Facebook profiles to share content, and then start personalized conversations, I would say that using a business page for this won't necessarily give you the same reach, but it'll give you the right reach. Now, for many, their personal profile and their business life has kind of become as one and completely understand that. But for anyone who would like to use Facebook, as it was intended to have a personal profile, to share things with those who are in your field, about what's going on, not just in your business world, but in your personal life as well, then this might be an opportunity to actually switch those back out. The other thing that's obvious about a business page as an advantage is you can use ads. And so that means you can amplify your really popular content to new audience members. And that's more likely going to help you to build a larger following. If that's something that's of interest to you, there are some features that you lose by switching to the new pages experience, which is the jobs feature and a couple of other features that are detailed in a help article that I will drop below to activate the new profile headlong to your settings and switch new Facebook experience. At the time of this video. It's not yet available for all profiles, but it is coming to everyone. If you already have a substantial following on your personal Facebook page, you actually have the option to convert an existing Personal Profile across to a page. And this might be a great opportunity for you to lean into using a business profile, expand your reach and have your followers follow your page and help you amplify your content that you share.
