Google has announced that Google Meet, previously exclusive to G Suite subscribers, will be made available for free until September 2020. In this video, we cover the news of the announcement and how you can get access.
Google Meet’s daily usage has increased over 30x since January and adding roughly 3 million new users every day. This growth means that privacy and security should be paramount. Since it is tied to a Google account, Meet is designed on a foundation that’s using one of the most secured technology infrastructures today.
Here’s a summary of all the cool new features and updates for Google Meet:
- It’s now available for everyone! Yes, it’s for a limited time at the moment but you get to use features that are previously just available exclusive for G Suite subscribers, such as simple scheduling and screen sharing, real-time captions, and layouts that adapt to your preference.
- Expanded tiled view that lets you see up to 16 people simultaneously. No need to risk on a tool that has security vulnerabilities just to get that grid view.
- Sharing a Chrome tab with higher quality audio and video (instead of a window or entire screen) for your presentations.
- Meet now uses an AI to automatically adjust your video so you’ll be more visible to all participants even with poor light settings.
- Intelligent noise cancellation to filter out background distractions will also be available in the coming weeks.
With these new features, Google hopes that by making Meet and G Suite more readily available for all, it will be easier to securely stay connected and productive — now and in the future.
