A large number of employees these days are already remotely working, whether temporarily or permanently, mostly at home, some in co-working spaces, and basically just anywhere else for others. No matter where you are and what you do, it can be a challenge at times to stay focused and get things done.
Here’s a list of different productivity tips that will help you be more efficient and productive even when outside the physical office space.
#1 Choose the best tools
Your workstation is where you will spend most of your time. Make sure to invest in comfortable equipment — laptop, table, chair. If you don’t want to sit for longer periods, you may also invest in a standing desk to help keep you alert. Your space should be comfortable and uncluttered.

The primary tool when working remotely is your laptop or computer. Not only is it used to finish your tasks, but it is also your primary means of communicating with your team. Make use of provided tools for communication, collaboration, task management, and productivity.
#2 Know your priorities
Task management systems can help you prioritize and delegate tasks. Always stay in touch with your team and work around these priorities so you’ll know what and when to work on a task.

Just as you know when to proceed with a task, you should also know when to stop. Sometimes this can be difficult when you’re working right in your bedroom. Once your allotted work hours are over and completed the priorities, stop working.
#3 Make and stick to your schedule
Without the structure of a traditional workplace, you’ll have more freedom, but also more responsibility. Plan out your day based on task priorities. You’ll get more out of your day and stay on top of your deadlines.

Working remotely offers fewer distractions, but it doesn’t mean that there will be no distractions at all. Avoid intrusive tasks like reading an article, watching movies, and online shopping. This way, you’ll be able to squeeze in all the productivity you have within specific work hours.
#4 Separate work and play
Not everyone enjoys working at home, but it helps to set aside a corner in your home as your office space. Working on your bed or your couch won’t help you get in work mode because you know it’s your place for relaxation.

When you’re done with work, make a routine to wrap up your day, just like how you make plans to begin each workday. You’d then be able to draw the line between the two areas of your daily life.
#5 Always practice self-care
Just like any other productivity tips out there, taking care of yourself is of the same importance.

When you’re not feeling well, it becomes so easy to disregard any signals from your body. Always stay in tune with your stress and energy levels. It’s easier to take naps and fit in some form of exercise when you’re at home. Go outside (even if it’s just in your front yard) to get some sunlight and fresh air, so you won’t feel stuck and lonely.
Remote work arrangement suits a specific group of people, but it is also not a perfect system. Surely, there are pros and cons. It requires a lot of discipline to be successful, otherwise, anyone can run the risk of burning out and becoming discouraged.
